[요 12:12-19, 개역] ([12] 그 이튿날에는 명절에 온 큰 무리가 예수께서 예루살렘으로 오신다 함을 듣고 [13] 종려나무 가지를 가지고 맞으러 나가 외치되 호산나 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이 곧 이스라엘의 왕이시여 하더라 [14] 예수는 한 어린 나귀를 만나서 타시니 [15] 이는 기록된 바 시온 딸아 두려워 말라 보라 너의 왕이 나귀 새끼를 타고 오신다 함과 같더라 [16] 제자들은 처음에 이 일을 깨닫지 못하였다가 예수께서 영광을 얻으신 후에야 이것이 예수께 대하여 기록된 것임과 사람들이 예수께 이같이 한 것인 줄 생각났더라 [17] 나사로를 무덤에서 불러내어 죽은 자 가운데서 살리실 때에 함께 있던 무리가 증거한지라 [18] 이에 무리가 예수를 맞음은 이 표적 행하심을 들었음이러라 [19] 바리새인들이 서로 말하되 볼지어다 너희 하는 일이 쓸 데 없다 보라 온 세상이 저를 좇는도다 하니라)

오늘은 종려주일입니다.
예수님께서 예루살렘에 입성하신 날입니다.
여러 지방에서 많은 군중들이 몰려 왔는데 유월절을 지키기 위함입니다.
예수님이 예루살렘에 오신다는 말을 들은 사람들은 예수님을 환영하가 위해 모여 들었는데 이것은 주님이 지난 삼년간 전하신 말씀과 나가서 베푸신 기적을 보았기 때문에 오매불망 기다리던 메시야로 인정하는 사람들이 많았기 때문입니다.
특별히 무덤에 있던 죽은 나사로를 산자 처런 불러내어 살리신 기적을 본사람들에 의하여 더욱 주님의 예루살렘 입성은 그 기대가 많았습니다.
예수님은 입성하시기 전에 베다니 나사로의 집에 머무셨는데 예루살렘에서 약 3마일정도 떨어진 곳입니다.
예수님은 나귀새끼를 타고 입성하셨는데 이것은 스가랴서의 예언을 성취하시기 위한 것이었습니다. 예수님을 맞으러 온 사람들은 손에 종려가지를 들고 흔들며 예수님을 맞이 하였습니다. 승리와 기쁨의 표시입니다. 그리고 그들은 호산나 주의 이름으로 오시는이여 이스라엘의 왕이시여 라고 외쳤습니다.
물론 그들은 예수님에 대하여 잘 알지 못하였고 오해하였지만 그들의 외침은 진리를 나타내고 있습니다. 군중들은 예수님이 로마제국을 멸하고 이스라엘을 다윗시대처럼 강력하게 회복시켜 주실 것을 기대하였던 것입니다. 그러나 예수님은 고난을 받으시고 십자가에 달려죽으심으로 온인류를 위하여 구속사업을 완성하심으로 말미암아 하나님 나라를 세우시기 위하여 입성하고 계신것이었습니다. 이런 놀라운 환영인파를 본 바리새인들은 절망하여 이르기를 온세상이 저를 쫓는다고 하면서 자신들이 그동안 예수님을 막고 죽이려고 하였던 노력이 헛수고였음을 인정하였습니다. 이것은 바로 예수님이 예루살렘에서 승리하실 것임을 보여주신것입니다.
오늘도, 드디어 고난과 죽음이 기다리고 있는 예루살렘에 입성하시는 주님의 당당하고 겸손하신 모습 그리고 환영하는 군중들의 모습속에서 중요한 진리를 깨닫고 더욱 주님을 사랑하고 충성을 다하는 복된 우리모두가 될수 있기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 축원합니다. 아멘.
1. 그 이튿날 명절에
(1) 베다니 마리아의 집
[요 12:1-5, 개역] ([1] 유월절 엿새 전에 예수께서 베다니에 이르시니 이곳은 예수께서 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 나사로의 있는 곳이라 [2] 거기서 예수를 위하여 잔치할새 마르다는 일을 보고 나사로는 예수와 함께 앉은 자 중에 있더라 [3] 마리아는 지극히 비싼 향유 곧 순전한 나드 한 근을 가져다가 예수의 발에 붓고 자기 머리털로 그의 발을 씻으니 향유 냄새가 집에 가득하더라 [4] 제자 중 하나로서 예수를 잡아 줄 가룟 유다가 말하되 [5] 이 향유를 어찌하여 삼백 데나리온에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 주지 아니하였느냐 하니)

(3) 향기진동

(4) 주님을 사랑하자
[요 14:21-23, 개역] ([21] 나의 계명을 가지고 지키는 자라야 나를 사랑하는 자니 나를 사랑하는 자는 내 아버지께 사랑을 받을 것이요 나도 그를 사랑하여 그에게 나를 나타내리라 [22] 가룟인 아닌 유다가 가로되 주여 어찌하여 자기를 우리에게는 나타내시고 세상에게는 아니하려 하시나이까 [23] 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 사람이 나를 사랑하면 내 말을 지키리니 내 아버지께서 저를 사랑하실 것이요 우리가 저에게 와서 거처를 저와 함께 하리라)

(5) 사랑은 가장 귀한것을 드리는 것

(7) 유월절 어린양
[눅 22:18-20, 개역] ([18] 내가 너희에게 이르노니 내가 이제부터 하나님의 나라가 임할 때까지 포도나무에서 난 것을 다시 마시지 아니하리라 하시고 [19] 또 떡을 가져 사례하시고 떼어 저희에게 주시며 가라사대 이것은 너희를 위하여 주는 내 몸이라 너희가 이를 행하여 나를 기념하라 하시고 [20] 저녁 먹은 후에 잔도 이와 같이 하여 가라사대 이 잔은 내 피로 세우는 새 언약이니 곧 너희를 위하여 붓는 것이라)

(8) 흘리신 피의 능력
[출 12:12-14, 개역] ([12] 내가 그 밤에 애굽 땅에 두루 다니며 사람과 짐승을 무론하고 애굽 나라 가운데 처음 난 것을 다 치고 애굽의 모든 신에게 벌을 내리리라 나는 여호와로라 [13] 내가 애굽 땅을 칠 때에 그 피가 너희의 거하는 집에 있어서 너희를 위하여 표적이 될지라 내가 피를 볼 때에 너희를 넘어가리니 재앙이 너희에게 내려 멸하지 아니하리라 [14] 너희는 이 날을 기념하여 여호와의 절기를 삼아 영원한 규례로 대대에 지킬지니라)

2. 종려나무를 가지고 예수님을 맞으러 온 군중들
(1) 승리의 상징입니다.
[계 7:9, 개역] (이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무라도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 흰 옷을 입고 손에 종려 가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서)

(2) 번영과 기쁨의 상징
[시 92:12, 개역] (의인은 종려나무 같이 번성하며 레바논의 백향목 같이 발육하리로다)

(4) 나사로를 살리신 기적을 본 사람들

(5) 잘못된 동기

(1) 메시야

(2) 임마누엘

(3) 하나님

(4) 세상의 죄악을 담당하실 메시야

6. 나귀를 타고 입성하심
(1) 예언성취

(6) 말씀대로 죽으시고 부활하심

(9) 심판자 예수님

[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- [19] and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, [20] for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.)
(5) 온 세상에 복음을
[행 1:8, 개역] (오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라)

(6) 절망하는 원수들

(7) 피의 증거

(9) 성령님의 능력

(10) 예수님 이름의 권능
[막 16:17-18, 개역] ([17] 믿는 자들에게는 이런 표적이 따르리니 곧 저희가 내 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며 새 방언을 말하며 [18] 뱀을 집으며 무슨 독을 마실지라도 해를 받지 아니하며 병든 사람에게 손을 얹은즉 나으리라 하시더라)

[수 1:5-6, 개역] ([5] 너의 평생에 너를 능히 당할 자 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께 있던것 같이 너의 함께 있을 것임이라 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니 [6] 마음을 강하게 하라 담대히 하라 너는 이 백성으로 내가 그 조상에게 맹세하여 주리라 한 땅을 얻게 하리라)

사랑하는 성도 여러분,
예수님의 예루살렘 입성의 의미를 아셨습니까?
예언의 말씀대로 오셨습니다.
말씀대로 죽으시고 다시 부활하셨습니다.
말씀대로 다시 오실것입니다.
군중들은 떠들고 착각으로 주님을 환영하였지만 사실 주님은 자신을 유월절 어린양으로 드리러 가시는 길이었습니다.
주님은 벌써부터 자신이 예루살렘에 가시면 고난을 받으시고 십자가에 달려 죽으실 것을 알고 계셨습니다.
주님은 또한 사흘만에 살아나사 승리하심으로 죄와 사망권세를 깨트리심으로 수많은 사람들을 해방하실 것을 알고 계셨습니다.
순종의 입성이요 승리의 입성입니다.
인류 구속사명을 완성하시러 가시는 길이었습니다.
군중들은 주님이 로마제국을 멸망시키고 강력한 이스라엘의 재건을 원하며 환영하고 착각하고 있었지만 주님의 마음은 십자가를 지시는 일에 마음을 두셨습니다.
종려나무가지는 기쁨과 번영 그리고 기쁨의 상징입니다.
나귀는 주님의 겸손과 순종을 보여주며 평화를 상징합니다.
나가서 예언의 성취를 보여주고 있습니다.
호산나 외쳤습니다.
주님만이 인류를 죄와 사망에서 구원하실 분이십니다.
주의 이름으로 오시는 이여 외쳤습니다.
예수님은 하나님이 보내신 메시야이시오 하나님을 대신하여 오신 분입니다.
예수님은 하나님이십니다.
예수님은 이스라엘의 왕이시오 만왕의 왕이십니다.
예수님은 평화의 왕이시오 의의 왕이시며 사랑의 왕이십니다.
원수들은 이미 절망하여 자기들의 패배를 인정하였습니다.
우리는 승리자입니다.
우리는 담대해야 합니다.
주님의 피와 주님의 이름과 성령과 말씀의 권능이 우리와 함께 하고 있습니다.
주님처럼 담대히 사명의 길을 가야 합니다.
주님이 승리하셨고 우리들도 승리하였습니다.
오늘도, 주님 예루살렘 입성을 보면서 우리도 인간들의 환영이나 비방에 마음을 두지말고 오직 담대히 주님 주신 사명의 길을 가고 결국 승리하는 복된 우리 모두가 될수 있기를 우리주 예수그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축원합니다. 아멘!
